Nueva Vista supports Latin American and U.S. Latino filmmakers by:
- Running a fiscal sponsorship program, allowing filmmakers and presenters to offer tax deductions to their donors
- Supporting selected documentaries with a social impact tour, facilitating engagement with charitable organizations and the documentary’s subjects and creators
Sarah Bingham Miller, Executive Director
Sarah’s interest in film began as a graduate student studying Soviet avant-garde film. She’s been involved with Latin American film since 1999, when she began working with a New York-based Latin American film festival. It was her experience promoting this festival that led her to collaborate with Vanessa Erazo in creating Cinelandia, with the aim of providing a nationwide platform for fans and scholars of Latin American film. Nueva Vista is a way for her to address other needs of the Latin American and U.S. Latino film community.
Jeff is a producer and co-founder of Derring-Do Productions, an attorney, mediator and former educator. He serves as vice president of the University of Chicago Arts Alumni Network and, along with his wife and family, has developed The Last Chance Mission, a charity organization serving the disadvantaged by providing resources and guidance to answer: “How Can We Help?”
From undertaking social projects and documenting the plight of the Guatemalans in refugee camps in Southeast Mexico, to being director of the renowned international film school in Cuba (EICTV), I have acquired significant experience of cultural/political networking and international collaboration. My proudest achievements to date have been the foundation of the Icaro International Film Festival and the Casa Comal, which have led to a notable flowering of cinematography in the Central American region.
Having spent a decade on each side of the Hollywood/Madison Ave. divide, Arka has expertise in the intersection of content marketing, content production and content distribution. Arka is currently producing several documentary projects, including developing a music travel show for Participant Media. He has created content for networks including MTV, SPIKE, Discovery, VEVO; has consulted for production companies including Al Roker Entertainment, @radical Films; and has developed content for brands like American Express, Smirnoff, Subway, Sony, and Cisco.
